The studio interior |

The studio space has been affectionately referred to as The Studio among the guests, friends, and visitors who frequent. During the day it is a private area in which to paint, and to explore the creative juices. At night it's a completely different story; I remove the cover from the pool table, turn up the volume on the sound system, and adjust the lighting to create a pleasing ambiance. With the studio's approximately 1400sq.ft. of open floor space, and having concrete floors, makes an ideal space to create, well sometimes- messes, and not worry about damaging the floor. Being an open floor space, the studio is more than spacious enough to build, stretch, and work on large canvases. It offers plenty of privacy from the nuances of the outside world, and located at a corner of a highly trafficked busy intersection; this has proven to be a bonus. Since the studio is a totally enclosed space, there isn't any windows providing natural lighting. Compensation for the lack of natural lighting has been made by using various artificial lighting systems. Although the studio is large enough to accommodate many guests, it is also capable of providing an intimate atmosphere. In the 60/70's the space was used as a bar called the Black Angus, and the remnants from the earlier days as a night spot still exist today. A 9' pool table, a 6560 watt professional sound system, and a really cool Intelligent lighting luminare called the SynchroZap QX250 are part of the studio's equipment. With creative activity taking place in the studio daily it is in a constant state of flux, ever adapting to the needs of the creative environment. It's a great place to hang out, to relax, read and study, and to work on various projects, or to just plain goof off. |
